In the heart of Baltimore, a narrow railroad-style apartment was reimagined from a generic, standard-issue layout into a warm, composed space designed to support short-term rental living. The goal was to create an environment that felt both inviting and memorable, without sacrificing function in a compact footprint.
Muted jewel tones layered with black accents were used throughout the home to introduce depth and warmth, giving the space a sense of character while remaining broadly appealing to guests. At the entry, a dedicated landing zone was carved out to accommodate coats, shoes, keys, and bags, establishing order immediately upon arrival.
Limited square footage presented a challenge for dining. Rather than forcing a traditional solution, we preserved an open plan and positioned the dining area between the living room and kitchen, allowing the space to remain fluid and adaptable. Paint and wallpaper selections were carefully chosen for durability and visual impact, balancing longevity with the need to photograph well for online listings while reflecting the client’s artistic sensibility.
Although not originally included in the scope, the patio was incorporated at our recommendation. With a few considered additions, the outdoor space became an extension of the interior, offering guests a quiet moment to enjoy fresh air and the surrounding city during their stay.
